This reading really didn't uncover many hidden truths, there were no epiphanies which occured paragraph after paragraph. However it did force me to concentrate on the sad truths of many advertising campaigns.
That is: the fact that these corporation giants have began to think of themselves as "cultural philosophers, spiritual guides and political leaders. Attributing to the rise of a culture obsessed with material goods. A culture which better, faster, smarter, more beautiful becomes a way of life. Obsessed with competition-each person stepping on the one under them to get ahead. In a way it seems really natural that brands which needed to break through the clutter result into emotional and lifesytle branding leaps. Like all history advertising is working its way in a circle. By this I mean, I see the future of advertising backtracking to the very same promotion of quality and virtue of product; as a means to be different from this lifestyle sale approach which will disguist consumers more and more.
