I really enjoyed this section because for me it really put things into perspective. When the text talks about the designer really getting involved or absorbing the culture around them makes sense in terms of designing for the now. It's great to look at past design styles for inspiration but it's really important to understand whats happening today.
It's also of great importance to really connect and understand what your client is wanting without it being about you. If your design concept is all about you and want you as a designer wants then there really no need for client presense. I think that it's okay to be very passionate about your design approach but at the same time you have to be receptive to input. As we discuss in class frequently, at some point a designers has to step back and remove themselves from the process inorder to bring forward a better solution.
