Learninz n such

The article on critical thinking, a brief bit of metacognition on a certain type of thought process lost me a bit. I have trouble following bullets when they stack up with complex lead-ins. However, one thing that grated me was when the author stated that "The ideal critical thinker is disposed to try to "get it right"..." This may be a great sentiment, but it becomes hardly practical when dealing with moral issues where there is no clear "right." I'd argue that critical thinking is most useful with these situatuions, where skeptical analysis aids in the formulation of a position. However, a person's moral background shapes the parameters one defines as 'right'. Just sayin.

On the second bit of reading...It is true that album design gets short shift from many people. Album design also inspired me before I even understood the field of graphic design. I thought this article offered a fairly cogent arguement for sticking to one's beliefs and ideals, without becoming too preachy, and offering positive outcomes to doing so. It also spoke very well of the need for designers to be able to eloquently speak about their work. I think that in our class particularly we rely too much on our classmates established understanding of our work, work ethic, style and approach, as well as project descriptions when presenting. It would benefit us all to start presenting our work more with a great deal more depth. This might seem a bit redundant for some, but it would help prepare us to present work much more effectively in the future.

That is all.
