But my ADD makes it almsot impossible for me to keep thoughts in a coherant manner without writting or drawing them. I was thinking about the auto industry, and how technology (generally respected as a good thing as far as innovations go in other industries) has infiltrated the way cars, drivers, and the road all work together. In my opinion, there are a lot of technologcial advances like ABS and Airbags which can really save drivers in bad situations. But is there and over-techno-gizmo obsession here? is the over-design of cars becoming a platform for technology to be the selling opint, ie: our cars have more gadgets to keep you on the road (allowing you to be less focused on driving the car, because the car makes up for your distractions) so buy us not them!
It bothers and scares me to see people bragging or instilling such confidence in a microchip while they drive a 5000 pund vehicle. Personally, and this is probably the enthusiast talking, I like to feel the vehicle in my hands and at my feet, and its that feeling which gives me confidence as a driver, not knowing that my car will (if i bought one of these cars) can apply the brakes or counter steer the tires when it gets out of control. If the car gets out of control with me behind the wheel, its not up to the car manufacturer to take responsibility and load me up with numbing safety deevices. I say if you can't keep a car under control in all forseeable circumstances, you shouldn't have a driver's license, which should truly be the measure of safety on the public roads. Not the computer controlled aspects that your car may posses.
OK, i hope that made sense. Thanks for putting up with my rants.
