Street Art in Berlin... "Don't Forget"
Here are a few images and there are several more on this flickr. It is related, in subject matter, to another post of mine "Sex, Lies and Photoshop". It is gureilla advertising, or I guess in this case, guerilla awareness. I think this is an interesting attempt at getting people to become more aware of the alteration these photos go under without having to show a before and after. Although many people wouldn't understand the exact meaning of what the brushes and other tools do, many would recognize it as some manipulation from the computer.
Do you think it is an interesting and effective way to try and raise awareness of photo manipulation?

i'm curious about how broad of an audience is targeted here. photoshop's a ubiquitous technology, to be sure, but do you think anybody who doesn't use it would be familiar enough with the interface to get the commentary?
I think that this is a interesting way to raise awareness of photo manipulation. It reminds me of the dove evolution campaign which shows video of the actual process in photoshop. Dove launched a few cleaver campaigns that appear to be addressing the issue, but their motives were to sell more products. That makes me question the motives here.
josh, this seems to me to be purely motivated by a desire to expose the reality behind beauty images. it seems quite different from the dove commercial in that there is no obvious sponsor for the "added-on" work (the photoshop palettes). the presence of a named author (logo or other "signature") immediately communicates some type of motivation on the part of the author, prompting the question "what do they have to gain from telling me this?" in this case, the lack of an author foregrounds the content for what it is and nothing more.
but i suppose it could be a guerrilla push from adobe to sell more photoshop...
