350: International Day of Climate Action

In researching for the group presentation on sustainability I came across 350, a global movement to raise awareness on the effects of climate change.

"On Oct. 24, thousands of people in more than 140 countries are planning to take to the streets, parks, forests and oceans to raise awareness for the number 350. According to leading scientists, including James Hansen of NASA, 350 parts per million is the safe upper limit for atmospheric CO2...As the current carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere are estimated at 390ppm we'll need to take strong action to reduce the concentration of carbon dioxide (and by implication, other greenhouse gases) in the atmosphere and to avoid a series of catastrophic climate tipping points."
