yeah he's got some decent insights, although i think in a way he's pandering to the middle-left middle-class audience he expects. the subversion of reality as demonstrated through the number of calories in a packet of feta cheese? man up, dude.

he himself does propaganda. and he admits that but doesn't really talk about the implications of it. the blue state/red state stuff is not useful; there's way more important stuff than which party-conglomerate-corporation you choose to endorse. plus where does his money come from? why does he think the way he thinks?

i don't know. i don't mean to say he's got nothing useful to say. i'm getting pretty tired of cheap and easy cynicism. better if he questioned himself more.

well, don't quite know if I could follow the Judgernaut.

But, I kind of...hear what Glaser is saying. I'm kind of interested in the analysis of how propaganda affects the brain (similar to a lie). Glaser states it doesn't have to be a lie. That sort of informs me that it could be mere stimulation he speaks of. So..... is all design propaganda as long as it's convincing the viewer of something? He's getting on some touchy subjects that I think people aren't willing to dive into without approaching the daunting question: What IS design?

i'm kind of sick of this graphic design guilt trip. what about all the propaganda in art museums?

and seriously, nutritional facts are like the kind of "good" design projects that we talked about being the balance to all this persuasion.

i agree it's sad that many cultures don't allow any decision making but i don't see the connection to persuasive advertising.

i guess propaganda doesn't worry me that much because when the government recommends everyone buy duct tape for terrorist protection, i just laugh. i forget there are many people who immediately jumped in their SUV and purchased a 10 pack of tape.

"Americans have apparently heeded the U.S. government's advice to prepare for terror attacks, emptying hardware store shelves of duct tape."
