Scary
Michael Bierut's "A Manifesto with Ten Footnotes" gave me chills while reading footnote #4. Bringing up the issue of shoes and dachshund owners, how could I not take this personally? I hate that he refers to products as gruesome. I don't believe that all designers should go protest and speak from a soap box. If that were the case then the world would be louder than it is now. There are those who take iniciative and fight back, and there are those who dodge the bullet and stay clear from certain issues that aren't as important to them as it is to others. I am that second person. I agree that dog biscuit boxes should be attractive to the consumer who is buying them, why not? Is it so wrong that I would rather create shoe boxes and ad campaignes for the Gap than to create anti-smoking ads? I am concerned for the consumers would buy cigarettes but they know what the results are in the end, its their choice, it's no secret that it causes cancer.
