low flow that is the tempo

standard toilets use at least three and a half gallons of water for each flush. many water districts offer rebates to those who switch to more efficient models, but if no such program exists where you live, look back to the 70s, when the groovy, homegrown solution was to set a brick or two in the tank.

each brick displaces about a third of a gallon of water, sending much less than that down the pipes.

these are great suggestions for conserving water. thanks brockett. for those of you without access to these efficient models or a brick, i have another recommendation. To save at least a third the amount of water in the loo just follow these two simple rules.

if its yellow let it mellow.
if its brown flush it down.
